Gallbladder Surgery

Dr. Y. SATISH REDDY

What is Gallbladder Surgery?

Gallbladder surgery, also called cholecystectomy, is performed to remove the gallbladder when it causes pain, stones, or repeated infections.

Signs and Symptoms

Patients may experience abdominal pain after meals, nausea, bloating, indigestion, or jaundice. Gallstones are the most common cause of these symptoms.

When is Surgery Needed?

Surgery is recommended when gallstones or gallbladder disease cause frequent discomfort, infection, or complications. It can be done laparoscopically or through open surgery.

Benefits of Surgery

Removing the gallbladder relieves pain, prevents infections, and improves digestion. Minimally invasive approaches also allow faster recovery with minimal scarring.

Recovery and Aftercare

Most patients return home within a day or two. Following dietary adjustments, rest, and medical advice ensures smooth healing and long-term comfort.
